So I overclock the fx 6300 to 4.0 ghz from 3.5 ghz just by using stock voltage settings. I tested using prime 95 for 30 minutes and the tests passed.

Is it safe to just use stock voltage for 4.0 ghz?

Solution
in general it does but you are increasing the multiplier and making the processor work harder which does increase temperature also. there 2 ways to increase tempaerature, increaseing the voltage and increasing the multiplier which makes the processor work harder.
You can't damage ANYTHING by having a too low voltage, at worst, it'll not run. Overvolting on the other hand, can in a matter of nano seconds, fry the device.
If it runs, it runs, if it does not, it does not.

What happened when it isn't stable?

I thought lower voltage means lower temperature?
