Okay guys I've had most of this build for more than a year now. Recently I've upgraded to the new motherboard listed above and am currently waiting on the new cooler listed above. Anyway I've decided to try my hand at overclocking and was wondering if anyone had some advice for me.
I know overclocking is supposed to be relatively easy with this board since that is what it's made for, but I've poured a lot of money into this PC and if I fried it, you might find me curled up in the fetal position sucking my thumb.
I haven't really done any overclocking since my Intel Core 2 Quad build and this is my first build with a water cooler.

I was going to try for a 5GHz overclock or more if it will work. However I'm not familiar with some of the settings outside of the frequency, multiplier, and vcore.
What is the highest voltage this CPU can handle without frying?
Is it better to increase the multiplier or frequency?
Do I need to keep TurboCore on or off?
Will the CPU stay constant at the overclocked speed or will if throttle down in idle mode?

Thanks

Thanks for the guide SR-71. I did everything in that guide and it boots, but when I run Prime 95 it locks up. 4.8GHz being my overclock.

Idle temp at overclock 39C, load temp gets near 70C. Seems a bit hot for a water cooled CPU at this speed.

All my settings are the same as the guide in the above link says.

Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong?

I managed to get a stable overclock of 4.6GHz at Vcore 1.404.

Idle temp: 34C
Load Temp after Prime 95 for 30min 65C.

Seems this is as high as I can go with this cooler. Since I am a bit of a novice when it comes to water cooling, can someone tell me whether or not it would be a good idea to link another radiator to the same water-block and pump?

Thanks so much for your help.

Will this guide for ROG work the same for a sabertooth 990fx r2.0 Mobo with a 8350? Im doing some reading now for prepping when I get my new cooler in to try to overclock my cpu and maybe my graphics card.

Sorry If I shouldn't ask on your thread.

At 4.6GHz your 8350 is likely using 200, possibly 230 watts. That ends up being a lot of heat to get rid of.

A $250 dollar board, for a mid-level CPU from 2012...
AM3+ is probably a dead end. I'd go easy on that CPU and get some use out of that rig. You don't want that CPU to burn up and be stuck buying another FX... in 2014.
