Just got a new geforce 5600 and have been looking on the web at overclocking. Earlier drivers seemed to have slider bars to crank up the core speeds but ive just got the latest detonator(45.23) and i cant find them. Can you still overclock using the new drivers or have nvidia got rid of this function. A website seemed to suggest they were secret

If your wanting higher performance in Half-Life 2 or other DX9 games, I would certainly reccomend returning your FX 5600 card and getting a Radeon 9600 Pro instead. It will be faster, ALOT faster. I promise. No, it won't be faster in Quake 3, or UT2K3 which both of those cards will run fine, but if you want high performance in upcoming Titles and the already on-the-shelf Tombraider 4 game, you'd better switch, NOW while you have the chance. I'm dead serious. IF you don't beleive me, we can link you some Tombraider 4 benchmarks just to show you how Nvidia will rip you off with theri FX line. We were all astounded & left speechless by how poor the Tombraider benchmarks results left. What it did leave though was a very poor impression on Nvidia's current crop of products. If your a Die-hard Nvidia fanatic either buy an NV40 board this Christmas, or get a Ti4200 if your value-conscious like me. Otherwise, the current Hi-end & Mid-range products gets mopped up by ATi products.

My OS features preemptive multitasking, a fully interactive command line, & support for 640K of RAM!

Bah Eidos cant make a good game for the life of them. The tomb raider series has always been flakey and poorly done. The fact they added some PS 2.0 doesnt mean jack squat since they probably coded it like crap anyways. The fact it runs like crap on my 5900 means [-peep-] dick all to me since ill never play the stupid game and shitty as it is it doesnt hurt my feelings my card apparently has trouble running DX9 stuff. But since I can run Gun metal at higher res and framerate than my buddies 9800 can its a pretty save bet ill deal with the selected vendor only optimizeations well probably be seeing for the next little while.

13,500 in 3dcockstroke '01. Wow. And an invalid id for 2003! Extremely impressive. I'm sure you'll be happy with your awesome 'product' (packaged marketing bullshit) from nVidia.

Have you seen the Halo benchmarks?? Apparantly it uses dx9, and well, guess what? The fx 5900 gets 0wned by ATI. If you would be so inclined, read the many other posts on this very forum about geforce fx and dx9. No need to link here, just hit page 2,3,4,5, and so on. Take some time to research, and read the posts.

No matter where you go, there you are.

What a bunch of dicks:)
He wants to know about overclocking his new card. He didnt ask about playing HL2, or running the tomb raider benchmark. He cetainly doesnt want to here people telling him to take his card back and buy an ATi product.
Geez people, you sound like a broken record.

I help because you suck.

GW is right. You should still be able to overclock with anther utility if you can't use the nVidia one. If not, those drivers have to be out there somewhere, just Google it.

For the record, all the crap about nVidia having crappy shader performance is true, but we'll save that for another day.

nVidia cheated on me so I left her for ATi. ATi's hotter anyway...

Maybe I might just go for the Radeon after all. Everyone seems to have different opinions about the two cards I just could not be arsed with it anymore and bought the dam thing. im just not that much of an enthusiast, middle of the road gamer who does not want to spend a fortune on a games machine

ive just had a look at the tombraider benchmarksthanks war
viper youve saved my bacon
