EDIT: Just realized this is in the CPU forum and not the Overclocking forum. My sincere apologies, please move it to the required sub-forum if needed. Not trying to cause any issues.
Hey guys, this is my first overclock and I have been doing DAYS worth of research as well as spending all my time trying to get a significant, stable overclock. Here's what I'm having trouble with:
It seems that in my case, and my case only, with this particular processor, I'm having to push WAY more voltage into it than other people in order to get stability. My temps have never exceeded 50C, even when I've had the VCORE at around 1.55v. I've heard from a few people that the max I should go with the VCORE on this processor is 1.55, so I made sure never to exceed that, however most people are saying that my voltages are WAY too high for what I *was* running at. People are saying that they got up to 3.6GHz without even crossing 1.45 on their VCORE. I know every processor is different, however I'm almost at 1.5v and I'm still not stable at 3.6GHz. Here are my settings right now:
OCCT Stopped due to error after about 15min.
3640MHz
BUS=260
CPU Multiplier=14x
HT FREQ=2080 1.22V
VCORE=1.4850V
CPU-NB=2340 1.2850V
RAM=1386MHz 1.52V
10-10-10-24-33
Temps never went over 38C
I've tried tightening/loosening latencies and reducing VCORE, tried playing around with different HT and NB clocks, nothing. In order for me to get anywhere near where I want to be I know for a fact I'm going to have to exceed that 1.55V margin unless I start doing SOMETHING differently. But I don't know what that is....
Here are my specs:
ASUS M4A79XTD EVO
AMD Phenom II X4 840 3.2GHz
4GB Kingston HyperX Blu 1333MHz (Rated up to 1600Mhz)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus CPU cooler
Any help on this would be GREATLY appreciated. I've exhausted myself doing research and running TEST after TEST after TEST after TEST. I know overclocking is a slow, painstaking process, but I just don't seem to be getting anywhere. I've reverted back to stock sooooo many times now haha.
Thanks in advance,
Brick
