What you should do before you overclock is run prime 95 for a while see how high your temps get. What type of heatsink fan do you have? the stock one?

Here cut from scotts guide
These are Intel's newest 0.09 micron technology CPUs, they're suppose to scale better than the 0.13 micron Northwoods, but the current C0 revision has a heat issue, therefore it's not a great overclocker compare to NorthwoodC, and these chips at the same frequency, performs worse than Northwood. Just refer to the overclocking guide of NorthwoodC if you own one of these but there is one thing that's different.

The change is that these CPUs are on the 0.09micron technology, therefore vcore above 1.55 will not help, and at that it'll make sure your chip lasts for a few years. These chips generally could reach to about 3.6Ghz on good air, and about 3.8Ghz on water, 4.0-4.1Ghz on Prometeia.

Go for watercooling, i believe it's a better investement than hsf, since all you need to do is to buy socket adaptors, instead of a whole heatsink.

Yes it's normal, Prescotts are HOT! But Intel still wants you to stay under 72C.

For a prescott this is normal I think, they can tolerate higher temps than the northwoods. However you are going to need a better hsf if you do overclock because it will produce more heat.

Pick up a coolermaster Hyper6, it comes with 1 80mm fan, but buy another quite one, with dual fan setup, this should lower your load temp by at least 10, with the use of AS5 or ceramique.

It does come with a fan, they don't show it, but it comes with a silent fan, pick up a 80mm panaflo or papst fan low airflow fan, so you'll have a dual silent fan setup.

Thermalright SP-97. Best heatsink. Period.

Couple that with a fan with atleast a 70 CFM rating. Make sure the fan comes with a controller so you really only have to turn up the RPM's of the fan while you are gaming or benching.

Have the D0 steppings STILL not come out?

Or you could go with this new thermalright <A HREF="http://www.systemcooling.com/thermalright_xp120-01.html" target="_new">http://www.systemcooling.com/thermalright_xp120-01.html</A>

Btw panther the p4 version is the sp-94 the amd version is the sp-97 :)

I know whats up that is intel ever going to relase the D0 stepping in the US?

Hyper6 beats Thermalright's SP series, that's why Thermalright released the AX-120.

Right you are.

OMG I had no idea there was this much competition in the heatsink field. Well I will have to refrain from what i said. The xp 120 is the best heatsink right now. But they arent in production.. yet?

Also, the coolermaster looks really nice but the best price i could find on it was around 55 USD.

Best price I could find the SP 94 is 40 USD

NOW CHECK THIS OUT!: Thermalright SLK-947U for 20 USD! man what a steal

is the fan built inside the Hyper 6 KHC-V81? ive just seen it on their website it says it has 1 but i cant see it, the other thing u say get a 2nd fan is that to screw it to the side of the heat sink? <A HREF="http://www.coolermaster.com/index.php?LT=english&Language_s=2&url_place=product&p_serial=KHC-V81&other_title=+KHC-V81+Hyper 6&PHPSESSID=3740febfc789f790727bf5d0629bfa70" target="_new">http://www.coolermaster.com/index.php?LT=english&Language_s=2&url_place=product&p_serial=KHC-V81&other_title=+KHC-V81+Hyper 6&PHPSESSID=3740febfc789f790727bf5d0629bfa70</A>

No the fan is not built in, it's a separate 80mm fan which you have to screw in once you get the whole package. If you buy another 80mm fan, you just screw it in on the other side.
