I am thinking of overclocking my sapphire 9000pro 64mb ddr card.
Reason?
I am bit disappointed with my this card and more over with myself for purchasing the card because i didn't realize that this 9000pro could be slow sometimes.

Because i can't afford to go out and buy a new 9700pro or a 9600pro for that matter right away, so i am thinking i should overclock this one and use this card for as long as it can run games (maybe another 11-12 months).

So i need your help overcloking. How far can i push my card. I am using rage3d and i have pushed the Core to 290mhz from 275mhz and memory to 260mhz from 250mhz. I got ~7000, an increase of 300 points in 3dmark2001se.
how much memory clock should u increase proportionally to core?

hey, just increase slowly 4-6 mhz at a time on each until it shows artifacts, then back it off a couple mhz..... get 3d mark2003, as this is one of the premier benchmarking utilities out there, imo. you may also want to try "omega" drivers as they seem to help out a lot of ati cards....along with "radclocker", this would be my first choice... the second one posted below looks a little more challenging!!!

it may not, but sometimes things pop up later on down the road.but that's not an excessive o/c so I would run it that speed for a few days and see what happens. worst case scenario----you clock it down. if you have the side of your case off( which in this heat is a good idea.......here in canada anyway!), lightly touch the top(back) of your card to see how hot it gets;if it's warm you are good to go, if you feel it's going to burn you, you might want to seek out a better cooling solution.(even a fan blowing across the card will help carry some of that nasty heat away!!
anyhow, that's a pretty good increase in 3dmark2001se, the way I figure it , any increase is always a bonus!!!!
