Hello all, first time to try overclocking. :hello: I was wondering how my settings looked and if i should change anything. Also the main question i have is my ram is a 7-7-7-21 1333 @1.35v but the speeds i can either choose from are either x6@10xx or x8@14xx, is it ok to run it at the 14xx range?

Parts:
Gigabyte p55-UD4P - f6 BIOS
I5-750
Hyper212+ cooler
CM Storm Scout case(plenty of cooling)

So far i have left everything stock(not including ram settings, there set at the 7-7-7-21@1.35v G.SKILL ECO series ram) except these few items.
Turbo Boost = Disabled
C1E = Disabled
EIST = Disabled
Load Line = Enabled
QPI = lowest @32
CPU = 175x20 for 3.5Ghz or 180x20 for 3.6Ghz playing around to see how much of a temp change between the 2.
Vcore set to 1.21875

Also i have seen mixed replies about disabling C3/C6/C7 State Support, should i?

Thanks for looking. Will update with temps and Prime results. Memtest has come back just fine though(at 20mins per each speed)

Thanks, i have looked over that guide. It got me started pretty easily. Many have said that since each chip is different the volts its stable at will differ, so should i really just put all those into play or just change 1...2...ect?

Set Vcore to your specified one(1.21875) and turned on Load line, so far so good on prime.

Should i change these?
QPI/Vtt/IMC= 1.14V
PCH= 1.10V
PLL= 1.80V
Will they drop the temps a lot or should i leave the stock volts as they are?

Anyone have an answer for my Ram question?

Thanks

It is quite true! However, the difference is very small 90% of the time.

You will only get huge difference with extremely good or extremely bad chips.

Steady after 20 or so mins of large FFT on prime

Temps pic: Ignore the real temp min, i reset it when i started the load test so i could use the real load avg function. Core temp has the mins from idle still.

How do they look?

Ya i know, but i rarely load it down to full. Only when i encode videos does it get close and those never take longer than and hour(if on highest settings and triple pass). So i should be perfectly fine with the Hyper212+

Do you know anything about running the 1333 ram at 1440? Will that hurt it? The only other one i can pick is 1080@x6 and that just seems to low.

It is very hard to overclock RAM, because they are very picky.

I suggest that you downclock to 1080 and there won't be any difference 99% of the time.

Read the article if you don't trust me: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/core-i7-870-1156,2482.html

I dont know what to read in that article to tell ya the truth lol. Memtest has not produced any errors at 1440@x8 in bios. Does it hurt the memory, or is it just more likely to produce an error?

In my guide:

"to be on the safe side" or "to be safe" means "its ok to do this"

"at your own risk" means "It's bad to run it and so do it at your own risk"

Hope the explanation helps.

The specs on that new eco ram are fantastic.
The o/c's are talking about them here.

Seems it uses some of the latest memory chips made.
Hence the low voltage.
Running at cas 7 at those speeds is very good.
