I have a question for the experts in here.
I recently built a new computer (my first), it's an i5 750 with the Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3R, cooled by the Prolimatech Megahalem.
I did as much reading as I could and I decided to venture into overclocking, understanding the risks, of course.
So I overclocked it from the stock 2.66GHz (133 x 20) to 3.50GHz (175 x 20) at 1.2v. I may or may not push it further. (I may just for fun though, and dial it back down for normal usage). I turned off Turbo but left C1E and EIST so that it will throttle down. So here's the question: I like that it throttles down when it is idling, but since I manually set the voltage to 1.2v, am I actually going to realize any energy savings? Voltages hover between 1.184 and 1.2 according to CPU-Z most of the time.
