Hello,
So i have finally got around to overclocking my i7 5820k and i had a question about turbo boost. Do i leave it on or off when overclocking. Also, MSI has this future called enhanced turbo do i leave it on ore off while overclocking.Furthermore, does enhanced turbo need turbo boost to work?

Thanks,
Aquation

Solution
1. I guess it's technically optional, but yes I would leave it on. I did w/ both my 3930k X79 previous build and my current 5820k X99 setup. Been OC'd this way since launch in late 2014.

2. Again, I really don't see a reason not to have "enhanced" enabled as well. However, if you disabled standard Turbo Boost, I'm doubtful enhanced would work at all. I can't say this for sure as I've never tried. Either way, your CPU OC is likely to be the same max regardless of these 2 settings, depending on multipliers used.
enhanced turbo lets all cores run at max multiplier instead of the CPU decreasing the clock speeds when more cores are in use. you can leave turbo off if you are overclocking. the c-states will let the clock speeds decrease if the CPU is being used lightly.

So should i leave turbo boost off for overclocking? Also, does enhanced turbo need intel turbo boost on to work?

MERGED QUESTION
Question from Aquation : "MSI Enhanced Turbo"

So i need to have them on at the same time?

I have turbo boost enabled on all cores for my 5820k OC'd. I'd leave enhanced on. It sound similar to ASUS' version(forget the name). What they mean is that typically with turbo, the more cores being used, the multiplier drops. If using 1 or 2 cores, the actual frequency is higher than 3-6 cores. I have the the ASUS equivalent of Enhanced Turbo enabled. I have my cores all set to 4.4 Ghz. So when I'm at that speed, all 6 will run a 4.4Ghz, not just 1 or 2.

Hello,
Everything is merging and i am confused now . Could you please answer these questions.
1. Should i leave turbo boost on when i overclock
2. Do i need turbo boost on to allow MSI enhanced turbo to work

Thanks,
