Hi guys I'm looking to Overclock my i7 8700k and am wondering what voltage I should use and If i could handle 4.7 ghz? Any tips or steps you could provide in overclocking would be grateful! Sorry if this is vague - very new to overclocking. Thanks for the help

CPU Specs:
i7 8700k
EVGA sc2 1080ti
NZXT s340 case
be quiet Dark rock pro 3
3000mhz 16gb ddr4 ram
ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-E Gaming motherboard

You should be able to handle a 4.7GHz overclock without any changes other than changing your multiplayer to 47 for an all core 4.7GHz overclock. You should not need much vcore for that and I would just leave that at stock. 4.8GHZ also should be fairly easy at 1.26 or 1.27v. and should be okay on your cooler. Just make sure under...

Just make sure under Prime95 version 26.6 that your temps sat under 80 degrees C.

So just to round up, try to get the highest overclock with the lowest voltage staying under 80 degrees C and you will be fine for long term use....

what voltage
Can't give exact numbers as every chip behaves differently.
If i could handle 4.7 ghz?
Accoring to Wikichips chart, nearly all chips can go up to 4.9GHz. 4.7Ghz should be far easier.
steps you could provide
BIOS > Ai tweaker > CPU Core Ratio > Sync All Cores > 1-Core Limit > 47
1. Set LLC to level 4 or 5 (50%). Prevents voltage drop under load.
2. AVX negative offset to 1 or 2 (for gamers). Lowers clock when AVX is used which most games don't.
3. Keep temps below 80c for daily usage.

Welcome ;)

For benchmark I can stable at 5.3GHz on all cores with 1.450V and ring core ratio at 5.0GHz with AVX -1 and OC RAM to 4400MHz with 1.470V from G.Skill 3600MHz CL15 (some DDR4 XMP consume 1.50V).
I can use this configuration for all the time with windows power plan Balanced mode for low voltage and low temp when doesn't need.
