Hello guys!

I'm looking around the internet about overclocking my quad. What i read was that everyone is fine overclocking it to about max FSB frequency of about 400 and so. So i decided to tune it a bit every time. I increased the FSB for about 10 and if it started to windows i did another 10. Until it didn't start. Then i went by 5 and so on. Got to the max value of my FSB of like 361 which is not really much overclocked... So my question to you guys is...is there a way to overclock it more?

Using:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300
ATI Radeon HD4870
4GB RAM
Asus P5B MOBO

Also i've put on some arctic cooling mx-3 paste on both GPU and CPU (if that helps...not sure it will xD)

Thanks for any answers you may provide!

Boot at FSB 361, run Prime95 for 15 Minutes, if it fails go into BIOS and increase Vcore slightly, also check that your RAM isn't running to far outside its rated spec. Boot into Windows and try Prime95 for 15 minutes again. If its stable up the FSB and repeat the process... Obviously keep an eye on the temps under Prime95 and don't go crazy on the volts.

So yea

I ran Prime95 for bout 15mins...self test 1024k was successful. Now id like to continue onto next stage of your post. Increasing core voltage...well i do know how to do that but mine is currently set to auto so i have absolutely no idea what are safe voltages for my cpu atm. Also i have my ram frequency set to auto due to my ram being 800mhz and the only closest options available are 720 and 900 (about that number).

The idea with voltage is to set the lowest possible stable setting. You can try starting with something like 1.3v and start raising the FSB slowly from there. Leave the voltage where it is until you get a rounding error in prime95. At that point you have a few options, lower the FSB and call it a day, raise the voltage one notch and call it a day, or raise both and continue overclocking. You should be able to do 400fsb X 7.5(your multiplier) for 3000ghz at around 1.3 volts on the cpu no problem, probably less, but not a bad place to start. Make sure to monitor temps as you go along.

If you want to go higher than 400fsb you might have to loosen the ram timings as you will be effectively overclocking your ram at that point. Depends on the ram and what voltage your running through them.
