Hey Tom'sHardware family,
So i have been thinking about overclocking my CPU to get better performance in video games, but I don't know anything about overclocking CPU and need help with it. I have heard that i might have to buy better CPU cooler and my motherboard might not be suitable for overclocking.
If you have question why i want to overclock the CPU then it's because when I'm playing games like GTA IV and GTA V then I'm getting those little lag spikes, I'm driving around the city with my badass car, everything seems great, but then I'm getting some little lag spikes or something like that and they are pretty annoying, usually I'm playing GTA V with high settings and my fps is around 60-77.

My PC specs are:
CPU: Intel Core i5 2450P @ 3.20GHz Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology
RAM: 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz
Motherboard: MSI B75A-G41
GPU: 4096MB ATI AMD Radeon R9 380 Series (MSI)
Hard disk: 232GB Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB ATA Device (SSD)
931GB Seagate ST1000DM003-9YN162 ATA Device (SATA)

Hopefully you can help me with my question/problem.
Best Regards,

I'm sorry, but you are unable to overclock that CPU for two reasons, one it isn't a k series CPU, which is necessary to overclock the intel CPUs since the sandy bridge series. The second problem you have is that you have a b75 motherboard and you need a z77 motherboard to overclock a CPU
