I have Abit kr7a-raid and XP +1600. My system is stable and my temp only reach 38C at full load. I would like to overclock my system and asking for advice. I have never overclock before, so please give me some direction.

Few of the question I have: What kind of setting or adjust must I make or take? What is the best stable setting when overclocking kr7a? What maximum setting anybody has reach using kr7a? Keep in mind I am using XP1600+.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know if your Athlon XP is unlocked, if not you can't change the multiplier.
Start raising the FSB a couple of MHz each time and check if your system is stable, if it isn't you could raise the VCore voltage to 1.85 and see if that helps to get it stable.
Be aware with a higher speed and voltage the CPU will produce more heat, so be sure that you have enough cooling.
Raising the FSB also means raising the PCI and AGP bus speed which can give problems with your mem, video card and PCI-cards.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground 😱 .

Thankx for the info. I'm not going to unlock my CPU because it is too much of a hassle.

Right now my 1600+ XP is running at 1800+. Vcore Voltage is 1.80. I know running Prime or Toast will determine if my system is stable or not. The only problem, I don't have those two program. The most intensive thing I do is video encoding. If I encode video for more than 2+ hours and my system haven't crash yet, then I would say my system is stable. Going to do that right now!

On this site (made by another THGC member) you can download both Prime95 and Toast:
