i have an fx 8320 and now for some reason when i overclock the display drivers fail and makes the screen flash off and on and takes me to the log in screen and when i click to login it flashes more.. its neeever done this before. it just sttarted this last night when i switched from my 32 inch 720p tv to my 49 inch 1080p tv. at stock my cpu is at 3.5 ghz and i have always went up to 4.5 for when i play games. i tried checking for a driver update for the tv but it says its up to date. please help. idk if this matters but i just got an asus gtx ROG strix 8 gig 1070 a week ago. it hasnt been working as good as it should be and someone on here told me to try a 1080p tv/monitor ince ive been running my games on 1080p settings on the 720p tv anyway and said that should help. and now this happens..... if you need to see a video i can upload it on my youtube channel and put a link up here since the video is 71 mb and the max size for an attachment on here is only 20mb

Post is a bit confusing, but overclocking is not a sure thing, and over time it can cause the CPU to slowly fail. Lower the overclock settings or run system at stock.

Not sure why you your try to run 1080 resolution on a 720 screen, that's impossible, you won't get that resolution, it's a matter of physical pixels available.

The higher resolution is stressing your system more to run it, which maybe why your overclock settings are crashing.

the cpu is only 3 months old so it should still be fine. i have my old fx4300 for like 6 months and kept it overclocked the whole time. and yeah i know it cant actually run at 1080p but it is clearer on 1080 settings. not a whole lot (and not 1080 clear) but a little better that the 720p setting. and i can oonly run at the stock 3.5ghz now. cant even go to 3.6ghz. it just doesnt make sence to me that it wouldnt function normally when i went back to the 32 inch. ive been using this tv for like 2 or 3 months now.

Check to make sure your temps are OK. Honestly you should just get a 1080 monitor, a 720 resolution screen with a GTX 1070 video card is a total waste.

If your system for some reason is not stable at overclocking it could be a motherboard issue, temp issue, power supply issue. I would not try to keep overclocking it if it's failing, that can damage the CPU or video card if you are overclocking that.

i got the card cuz i wanted to get the cashy-er parts first im gunna get a new monitor with taxes. but the temps are fine and on my 1tb hdd i can overclock normally its juuuust my ssd for some reason. but i dont have enough room on my hdd to move everything to it and try to format and restart everything on my ssd. is there a way to narrow it down and see which part (cpu, psu, temp) is causing the issue?

So you have two different Windows setups, and one runs OK with the overclock and the other does not, is that what you mean that it runs fine on the regular HD but not on the SSD? See if there are driver differences between the two setups.
