I've got a 1.13 Athlon and want to know how to over-clock it just a wee bit to 1.2 or 1.3G. Problem is that it's locked. How do I get it unlocked and if I buy a ThermalTake Volcano 7 should it run at a suitable temperature when overclocked?
Just to add: It's running on a Jetway 867AS mainboard. Got a 8cm fan on the back and one on the front. No idea of the temps it's running just now due to HW Doctor not working properly.
If you can't increase the FSB unlocking is all you can do. It is not that difficult: there are bridges on the top of the CPU that have a name, there are 4 bridges that are called L1, all you have to do is to close them from :::: to |||| and your CPU is unlocked. You can close the bridges by using some conductive paint/glue or with a pencil. It is best to first give it a try with a pencil, because you can easily erase the pencil marks. Then put it back in your PC and see if you can change the multiplier. If you set it higher you might need to raise the VCore a little to in order to get it working. But remember that a higher VCore results in higher temps.
If you want try an other app for reading your temp you can use MBM 5, which you can download here: http://mbm.livewiredev.com.
Good luck.
BTW there are a lot of guides about unlocking Tbirds on the Internet.
