So i recently got the viewsonic 1440/165hz IPS G-sync display, and i'm blown away by how perfect it is. Great colors, no dead pixels, and very little BLB that isn't visible unless on a pure black screen in a dark room. I'm just a little scared to fiddle with any settings in case i break something lol. Is there any danger overclocking it to 165hz? Does it increase the chance of pixels dying or anything like that? Or should i be good to go?

Thanks.

Actually its like you can overclock it to 165 hz but the variable refresh rates mentioned in your monitor specs is because of the G-sync. Yes, u can overclock and the manufacturer mentions it but u shouldn't as u may be getting frame tears and have other issues. Just have G-sync on and you are good to go.
And oh, seriously you wont notice any difference between 144 hz and 165 hz, its just a waste of time.
And overclocking it to 165 hz wont affect the longevity of your monitor as its within ur monitor specs.
Is it marketed as an 144Hz or 165Hz model? Does it have an internal function overclock? I am in a similiar position with a new 144Hz/165Hz model. It is marketed as a 165Hz, but I only can achieve that with an internal overclocking feauture. I suppose it to be safe, but there is obviously a good reason why I only can reach this with overclocking. Every overclocking mechanism is decreasing the lifetime of the product.

Plus, I did not see any difference between 165Hz and 144Hz in Overwatch. And yes, I have enough fps. Maybe this is because of G-Sync, as nearly complete range of Hz is smooth. Without G-Sync or FreeSync it could be different.
