Overclocking my Fx 4300

I have a and fix 4300 and I'm looking to overclock, its my.first time overclocking and I was wondering if anyone.had a stable setup I could use to overclock it.

I have not overclocked that chip in particular but if there's anything I've learned it's that all CPU's overclock differently, and using an overclock you find online could kill your processor. ALSO! Make sure you have sufficient cooling for overclocking, excessive heat could also damage your CPU.

I have one of these in a Gigabyte motherboard and it overclocked to 4.2ghz using the stock cooler.
I ran Prime95 on it for 14 hours without any faults and it never rose above 60*C.
I left the FSB at 200 and HT at 2000 and just upped the CPU multiplier.
I didn't have to change any of the voltages for it to be stable at 4.2ghz, but I probably will get get it running at 4.3ghz as one of Prime95's workers faulted at this speed. I've got a CoolerMaster X6 heatsink/fan in the post and when they arrive I'll see if I can get up to 4.4/4.5Ghz. I've heard rumours of people getting these chips to 5ghz but I've never seen the specs for this so it might just be someone spreading rumours based on AMD's projected theoretical performacne data.

Coolermaster X6 heatsink/fan has arrived and been installed.
Core voltage raised by +0.075 and a simple multiplier increase has the chip running at 4.5Ghz.
After an 8 hour run with Prime95 every core was still active and temperatures peaked at 64*C.
Overclocks past 4.2Ghz with my chip/mobo combination failed Prime95 testing without the vCore increase.
Now that I've raised the vCore, I will see how far it can go on this new voltage.

Looks like every step past 4.2Ghz will need a vCore increase. Luckily my motherboard (Gigabyte GA-730A-D3) can step this up at +0.025v incrememnts.
At +0.075v the FX-4300 runs nicely at 4.5Ghz but moving to 4.6Ghz will boot and show similar temperatures as 4.5Ghz but fail the Prime95 test on core 4.
At the moment I've still got a *lot* of volatage room to play with (depending on what kind of lifespan I want from the CPU and motherboard power components to last.
More results as I get the time to properly research voltages, Hypertransport link speed and run decent 8-hour Prime95 tests.

I currently have Fx4300, CM HAF 912, Cooler Master GeminII S524 cpu fan, 8 gb 1666hz ram, ssd and rad 7950 saphire boost.

I was able to OC with 1.4volts and get 4.7gz. Multipler 20, bus 235mhz
I used the gigabyte fxa990-ud3 bios in order to OC.

Use the video it really helps.

(I did stress test prime2, and checked speedfan etc, for over 4 hours ran fine.)

Overclocking the fx-4300 seems to be quite the hassle, or at least to get anything decant out of it.

Currently running 5.2ghz prime 95 24 hour stable.
Asus m5a97 motherboard, 1.6V cpu, 100 percent load at 55 degrees. (I am on watercooling mind you.)
Performance test (passmark) went from 4700 or so, to 6200. Makes quite a differance in score (the fx 8350 now is only 24% faster.)
I have a feeling i could go higher, as this core is pretty much brand new, so im breaking it in.
216mhz fsb with 24x multi.

no way you did...What board you using? 4.6ghz is pretty high for stock 1.3-1.32 core voltage.....still I bet if you actually ran Prime 95 for hours it would lock up haha..... Core temps were probably pretty high but I would be worried more about the VRM's going crazy.... do not go further....one word "unstable"....

Hello! I just upgraded my ga78lmt-usb3 rev 5.0 and my 4300 and added a tx3. I am running at 4.0ghz at stock clocks and under intel burn test (don't like prime95), got under 49 degrees for a 3 hour burn in. Should I go to 4.2? Here's a pic of my rig and the temps.

yep stressed it for an hour with Intel burn test and max was 61 c of heat vim are fine cooled by 200 mm top fan in strike x are cool bench case all is good. Will get pics tomorrow it might be the 9700 zzalama I have lost box and papers for it. But is a very good cooler that I am going to mod with 120 mm notched industrial 3000 rpm fan .In order to get to 5.3 ghz stable. It's a test computer so if it breaks I would not really care. P's the AMD fx 4300 is a rubbish cpu only posting 26gflops in Intel test.
