I just want to know, well I am just curios as well, I am going to buy a new PC soon and I was going to get non-k CPU and overclocking it, but since intel is locking that down on motherboard manufacturers..

Is it possible to get the bios that let the motherboard oc? if its not possible anymore I have no worry I will wait for Zen as I am not hurry at all. thanks!

Solution
The problem is that intel can easily still force you to not overclock non-k cpus. They can still update the cpu microcode via window update which can make it BSOD if it detects you overclocked the cpu.
Also future bios version may fix bugs that the motherboard has or improve compatibility.
In my opinion, don't bother overclocking if you getting a non-k cpu from Intel.
