Hey guy, yesterday I picked up an HP Proliant ML350 G6 with dual e5520 xeons. it has a 461317-001 motherboard https://ibb.co/ir1p5U. I have managed to get 2.43 GHz... but you know.... come on. Is there any way for me to play with the voltage of the cpus. I think they have potential and this is meant to be a Home server/random project rendering rig that just runs alongside my gaming pc on a separate screen. This thing came out in 2009 and it's 2018 so I'm hoping someone has figured out a way to make this happen.

Edit: A side question I have is that when I open Intel Extreme Tuning Utility it tells me it is Thermal Throttling at 38 Degrees. anything?

Solution
There is a Voltmod technique used most commonly on video cards. It requires knowledge of the pinouts of the VRM controller chip.
By adding a high resistance potentiometer to the V Sense pin as a pull down resistor, and a discrete Voltage readout to the VRM chokes (since the MB will be getting spoofed readings). It's possible to trick the VRM into thinking Volatge is too low.
Another option is to run one of the unlocked multiplier Xeons which allow Voltage to be raised by software also. Unfortunatley none of those are dual CPU versions. But 6 Core 12Thread might be possible. W3570, W3580 4C/8T are the cheapest of these and Windows might be required to do it...

Thanks for your reply.
I know that a server isn't ment to be OCed but I was just wondering if anyone has managed it.
