overclocking on stock motherboard....

Can i overclock my intel Q9550 by using Lenovo M58 thinkcenter Q45 notherboard using cooler master evo 212 as my main cooler. currently my CPU is at 2.83GHZ but i want to get it at around 3.5GHZ...

Hi, very often, stock motherboards dont allow overclocking. That cooler would handle overclocking easily, but that motherboard probably wont let you overclock. But try it, see if there is an option to change the CPU clock or multiplier in BIOS. It may work

I would say that the bios options of the Lenovo M58 will be very basic indeed.
And as said it is likely even if you wanted to overclock your cpu .

You will have little or no advanced bios options to be available to do so on your Lenovo M58 thinkcenter .
overclocking is the last thing on the list when it comes to pre built systems, and custom system motherboards. with laptops and tower based systems by a vendor where they are a pre built affair.

Cutting the options, using a cheaper motherboard and a limited bios with limited feature setup options of it are the order of the day to gain more profit from the sale of the pre built system.
