Overclocking Q6600 CPU problem? [Solved]

After getting a new GPU recently I thought just to make things a little more balanced I would overclock my Q6600 CPU to at least 3.0GHz. I went to go find a video to follow the instructions but once I got into my bios there were barely any options there, so I just thought that my motherboard or CPU was "locked" and I couldn't do anything about it. But then I saw this: http://imgur.com/a/QTJrx Does this mean somebody already made overclock options with the bios and saved them? I don't really know much about this stuff but I know that this PC was custom built by somebody else.

When I tried changing that option to 30% my PC just blue screened once I logged in and restarted. I changed it to 20% and everything seemed fine and I think my GHz did increase from the stock 2.4GHz, I didn't try testing any games though.

I'm asking if this setting is actually what I think it is and not just some random BIOS stuff.

SPECS:
Mobo: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5QL/EPU (LGA775) (American Megatrends)
GPU: 750ti SC
CPU Cooler: Some Deep Cool cooler (Can't find a model number or anything)

My complete BIOS if achieving at least 3.0GHz is possible with these settings:

Any help is appreciated.

Okay, you've only actually attached 1 image above, but looking at the manual for yopur motherboard, in the "AI Tweaker" menu, with "Overclock Tuner" set to "Manual", there should now be an option called "FSB Frequency". Since the Q6600 has a CPU ratio of 9x, to get 3GHz, set the FSB Frequency to 333MHz (333MHz*9 = 2997MHz).

Save those settings and try rebooting your PC, if it doesn't boot successfully, you may need to give your CPU more voltage.

Hope that helped

Hi, Is there an option to set the OVerclock Tuner to "Manual" in some way? That should let you alter the settings individually and give you more control.

Also, what's under "CPU Configuration" in the "Advanced" tab?

Hope that helps a little, both my Core 2 Quad boards are Gigabytes so I'm not too familiar with ASUS' BIOS layout...

I changed the FSB Frequency without changing the voltage and everything seems to be working perfectly. Thanks for taking the time to go through the manual and helping me out. Have a good one
