[SOLVED] Overclocking Q6600 CPU

Hi All,
First of All Sorry for my Bad English...
i have Dell Precision T3400 Workstation.. I am a budget gamer so i have an old CPU Core 2 Quad Q6600(2.4GHz)..
its a very old cpu so it becomes bottleneck in modern games.. i want to overclock my cpu as much as possible to boost my pc performance.. Can anyone help me to overclock this cpu..

First and foremost, please don't overclock on that prebuilt system, even if you could you wouldn't be getting anything of benefit apart from it being a room heater. Also, the BIOS will not allow you to overclock and the cooler in the system is not designed to handle an overclock. The VRM's on the board aren't equipped to be overclocked either.

To note, server machines like the one you have are meant to be reliable units so anything that can or will introduce an anomaly, is removed hence why that platform isn't suitable for overclocking.

Thanks dude.. I will upgrade my cpu then from Q6600 to Q9550.. so what about this cpu..?
Will this increase performance or not please give me your opinion i dont want to waste my money....?

CPU is going to be weak, 8GB RAM would be passable for an Internet browsing PC. A very slow one but you can watch youtube without issues and install windows 10.

The x38 express was a good motherboard for overclocking but a workstation motherboard might have all the options locked in BIOS and VRM's for stock operation. I have no idea as the Dell like to make custom crap. Like custom power connectors. It's likely a custom broad made to Dell's specs.

Should get you to 3GHz on the q6600. Q9550 is a better CPU, same core count and threads (4 total) but higher clock speed.
