Overclocking Q9550 w/ 4 sticks of memory

Hey guys, I recently bought a 4 gb memory upgrade (2gb x 2), to make a total of 8gb (2gb x 4). When I just had 4gb of memory, I was able to overclock the processor to 8.5 x 400mhz (3.4GHz @ ~ 1.365V) Now, with 8gb, I'm unable to overclock the processor to even just 3GHz (400MHz x 7 @ ~ 1.4V).. I'm running back on stock settings for the processor and don't have any issues.. I'm just curious if there's something that can fix this problem, to get it back up to speed.. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure this has something to do with the double dual-channel memory in use, (My motherboard officially supports the speeds.

I'm running it in a 4:5 ratio. 400MHz FSB, 500MHz memory speed. What did you run it in? 1:1 @ 400 MHz?

Go in the Bios and set the ram to 400 mhz. In the gigabyte bios i think it's something like Memory Ratio 4.0D. or 2.0D. I don't remember specifically.

Why would I change the memory to 400MHz? It's supposed to run at 500MHz (1000MHz)

Right, so I think i got it work.. All I did was set my memory SPD to 'auto' and it set it to 960MHz (480MHz) as opposed to 1000MHz (500MHz)... Everything seems to be running as it should, along with my processor back to 3.4GHz... I'll let you know if I run into any other problems.

Update: the 'auto' memory setting is better than I though, I OC'd my processor to 3.54GHz @ 417MHz x 8.5.. Didn't change previous voltage at ~ 1.365V.. Since I used auto settings for memory speeds, it is at 1001MHz, so now I'm back where I wanted to be, and a bit more.. Thanks again for all the input (Or lack of for some).
