I just recently bought my whole system:

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/veVg

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($319.98 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.98 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LK ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($104.99 @ NCIX US)
Memory: G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($45.98 @ Outlet PC)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($89.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($99.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB Video Card ($299.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Cooler Master Elite 430 ATX Mid Tower Case ($39.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Raidmax 630W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($44.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-222BB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer ($25.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $1101.86

And I was wondering, is it worth it to OC this system? I mean, it's pretty overkill as is (i7 and a 660ti) for gaming.

I will have to OC the RAM by default because it only OCs to 1866.... right?

Either way, I would just like some advice! Also, any concerns/comments/improvements with this build?

Thanks!
Josh

If it was for purely gaming, i would choose an i5 3570k and a 670. i7s don't have much of a performance boost over i5.

Now for more about your computer and overclocking.
With a hyper 212 evo you should be able to OC the i7 to 4.0GHz fairly easy and should OC the 660Ti.

The way I OC is using EVGA precision X turn voltage and power target all the way up and slowly up the GPU target(usually by 10) and run unigine engine until it crashes. When it crashes restart precision x and turn the voltage back up and lower the GPU clock(i do it by 5s) and run the engine again until it becomes stable.

many guides out there so you dont have to listen to me.

The reason for the i7 was based on my job. I work at Geek Squad and I am part of Intel Retail Edge. They had a holiday sale for the 3770k for $90. :D

Honestly, 660ti vs 670.. worth the extra money? I could return it and get a 670.

Thanks for the mini OC guide!

yes 670 is worth the money if you are intending to play the latest games or even multi screen. the 660 Ti has a lower Bus than a 7870 which is something i prefer more over 660Ti. But if it is to much of a hassle dont worry about it, 660 ti is good enough
