Overclocking ram amd/ryzen

Generally speaking, how easy is it to overclock the ram in a B450M motherboard to around 3200 from 2666? I have a suspected motherboard failure and went from team blue to team red and snagged a ryzen 2600 on Amazon for 165 and understand that ram is actually a big part of the CPUs performance.

Overclock RAM that was advertised as 2666 to 3200? Probably not gonna happen. Possible, yes. Probable, no. Typically RAM manufacturers are going to get as much money as possible from their product. If it could run 3200 they would advertise it at that and sell it for more. Possible You may hit 2800mhz, MAYBE 2933, but 3200 is probably a pipe dream.

I agree with bmockeg, the way RAM prices are now, if you want 3200mhz, you need to buy RAM that is rated for 3200mhz.

If the ram is actually 3200MHz then most likely you have to enable an AMP or XMP profile in BIOS to get it to run at rated speed.

Okay thank you for the very quick replies. Still excited about the processor. Can't complain about getting a six core processor and half decent cooler for $165.
