[SOLVED] Overclocking RAM beyond CPU support clarification

Hi,

I have a first gen Ryzen 1400, and according to AMD's website, it supports RAM up to 2667.

I have an entry level ASRock motherboard, and my RAM is 2x8gb rated for 3000.

My motherboard gives me two XMP settings, one at 2667 1.35V and the other at 2933 1.35V.

Is it safe if I pick 2933 at 1.35V even though my CPU only supports up to 2667? What can happen?

Yes it might be stable and might not be but if it works it's fine.

Ryzen supports more than 2667MHz RAM except that above that is considered as overclocking IMC (Internal Memory Controller). it depends on MB and BIOS how much more.
