So I notice that my ram is capped at 2400mhz and I'm trying to overclock it to it's advertised 4000mhz. I'm on an Aorus X470 Ultra Gaming motherboard with AMD Ryzen 2700x and HyperX Predator DDR4 4000mhz RAM. I've got XMP on profile 1 and EZ Overclock Tuner at EZOT-DDR4000. My system memory multiplayer at 40.00 40.00. still doesn't work????? Pls help!

Although the DRAM is advertised as 4000mhz capable, that doesn't mean you can attain that in your system. There are 2 components other than the DRAM that control your results:

AMD Ryzen 2700x processor : https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/amd-ryzen-7-2700x : 2933MHZ

Aorus X470 Ultra Gaming motherboard : https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_x470-aorus-ultra-gaming_pinnacle.pdf : 3200MHZ

I don't know specifically why you can't do better, but I suggest you start reducing the multiplier and you may get down into a range that your combination of components can handle.

Always remember that overclocking, by definition, means working outside the guaranteed specifications.

Could I overclock my cpu to allow faster ram?

Ok thankyou, I've since overvlocked my ram to 2933mhz, and it saves and resets fine. But when I turn my pc on for a second time after that, it turns on and off as if resetting and then doesn't show any visual input on my monitor or light up my keyboard or mouse. I then turn off my pc from the power button and try again; it turns on fine at this point but goes back to 2400mhz. How do I stop it doing this?

HyperX Predator DDR4 4000
HX440C19PB3K2/16

XMP TIMING PARAMETERS
•JEDEC: DDR4-2400 CL17-17-17 @1.2V
•XMP Profile #1: DDR4-4000 CL19-21-21 @1.35V
•XMP Profile #2: DDR4-3600 CL17-18-18 @1.35V

You can set memory clock speed manually. Don't forget about DRAM timings & voltage.
