Overclocking Requirements for GPU and CPU

I'm looking to overclock my next build and I was wondering what exactly would help. The CPU will be the i5-3570k with the P8Z77-V Pro motherboard. Does memory speed matter? Would 1800 be better than 1600?

The DRAM won't really play into OCing the CPU, 1866 will aid in the overall performance vs 1600 sticks, would look to 1866 with a CL of 8-9, prob best for your combo will be the Ripjaws X or GSkill Snipers.
