I'm new to this community and I was wondering if anyone could be nice enough to give me some advice on a rig I'm about to build that is designed for overclocking. Any advice is very much appreciated!

the gigabyte g1 version of the card clocks easier and cooler. and that cpu should be able to manage a reasonable 4.6 on air cooling ( as cheap as the hyper 212 evo ) if there is any other area you'd choose to invest the saved dollars.

drtoast you are awesome. I upgraded the card (couldn't find the G1 but this card looks great to me) but I think I will keep the same water cooler unless you think I shouldn't - it's probably a safer option, right? Also, think I still need the case fan? I suppose it can't hurt, eh?

You actually have selected the g1 edition :p

the windforce x3 is the standard, the plain "windforce" is the other name for the g1, see the backplate on the 4th photo on the superbiiz site.

as for case fans, you cant really go wrong with them.... well you can see thread http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2650327/high-temperatures-4690k.html

as long as you obey the general laws of heat dispersal :p there are quieter better fans, but fans are an area where its mostly preference.

currently running with just the fans that came with my case a 140mm intake and 120mm out in a corsair 300r, a plain case but roomy and understated :p

however i eventually want to make it quieter and quieter so am slowly adding more fans (slower rpm's and replacing the existing ones... currently eyeing up some cougar fans, they seem like a good idea but i need to hear a sample before i buy xD bettter fans command their price tags unfortunately.

edit - just actually looked up your case, it already comes with 4 case fans, and depending on where you seat your liquid cooler, you may not have room for another 2, save your money and buy without the fans, build it then see if you still need them. Always add them later, better than having them sat gathering dust if you arent able to use them :p
