I have a Diamond Viper 330 PCI graphics card. I believe there was
software for overclocking it. Does anyone know where I can find this?

Thanks

I am not sure that old a card is worthwhile. But try:

Thanks but rivatuner does not support win95. I did find NvTweak and
powerstrip. I'll try to figure those out.

Why? It's a good Quake 2 machine, if I can get the OpenGL working
again. Maybe when Doom 3 comes out I'll consider building a new
system.

They ever fix the photoshop problem ? icons, tools or something
visually garbled. Funny thing they never seemed to fix.

Anyway, I commend you for not buying another nVidia 😉

I don't know, I don't run photoshop. I'm not sure which 'they' you're
talking about; win95 or nvidia. Getting my machine to work is a bit of
hassle. I have a Tyan Titan Turbo S1571 with a AMD k6-2+600 processor
running Win95 with a Diamond Viper 330 and a Turtle Beach Tropez sound
card. I had to upgrade the flash on the Viper once and the drivers
that come with card are outdated. I install the latest Viper drivers,
then install the latest NVidea Riva128 drivers, then I put back the
Viper drivers, then install the Open GL stuff. Win95 doesn't like the
AMD k6-2+ so I need to replace a couple of DLLs there. The Bios has a
patch to handle the AMD. The Tyan needs a couple of updates to run the
UDMA and PCI stuff. Win95 has a dozen service packs, but in the end it
works just fine. Most Win98 stuff works with the exception of IE. Its
running 450MHz with the bus overclocked at 75MHz. Not bad for a 486 I
bought 1994. And my 5 1/4 floppy still works.

some chips had internal hardware bug, no one driver would fix this; I
have time to time problems with refreshing parts of the desktop for
example (Riva128zx, eval.sample), later versions of graphic chip was
fixed IMHO

Maybe you shoud be thinking going to Win98seLite (www.litepc.com)
Why? because W95 (any ver.) does support only AGP 1x texture speed
transfer & everything looks better with W98se.

No OC-ing that card on W95 will help much! See my site how I did it
with mine one!

Not 'any' version.

http://www.microflextech.com/support/Microsoft/Win95/win95agp.htm

"NOTE: Windows 95 must be at least version number 1212 in order to fully
support AGP display adapters.

The original versions of Windows 95, build 950, and build 950A (Windows 95
with Service Pack 1), and 950B, do not support full AGP functionality. AGP
display adapters will still function in these versions but only in the same
manner as a PCI based display adapter.

AGP Support was first added by Microsoft to the 950B (a.k.a. OSR2 version
1111) release by way of a USB SUPPLEMENT.
Build 950B can be updated to support AGP display adapters by applying the
USB SUPPLEMENT to OSR2.
..
..
..

Windows 95 version 950 and 950A can not be updated to support AGP products.
Windows 95 950B is required as minimum starting point."

What makes you think Win95 supports only 1x?

Kinda silly for ATI to have made a 2x card in 1997 then.

http://www.ati.com/companyinfo/press/1997/4059.html

Press Release

3D RAGE PRO board adds AGP benefits to top acceleration for Win `95 and
Windows NT applications

August 25, 1997

"ATI is the first graphics vendor currently shipping the software drivers
needed to enable the AGP capabilities in Windows 95.
..
..
..
3D RAGE PRO also supports the fastest AGP Protocol: AGP 2X mode with the
Sideband Addressing port and Pipelining."

Windows 98 wasn't released till June 1998.

I have don't have AGP on my motherboard. Would this help with a PCI
video card?

>

Yes, overclocking the video card didn't change anything. It was a
matter of getting the right drivers installed. At this point I've got
Quake 2 looking great, IMHO. The only problem is I have to start it
twice. The first time it runs real slow.

I'm a firm believer in running just enough computer to run the
applications you use. When I run into an app I want and doesn't work,
I'll upgrade.Though I think my current machine has reached its final
upgrade and I'll have to build a new machine from scratch.

Nice website.

probably yes; I tried to run my card @ Agp1x in win98se & the picture
IS better on win98 than on win95B ! Also you will not loose sistem
responsivness & speed going to Lite version (at least microkernel &
added IE5.01 with all available updates later AS a program (only for
example browser! - HTML engine & files to also WinMedia player work
w/o a problem!) I have still a 2 boot sys & my Win98seLite is as fast
as W95B I almost newer use any more ...

also is good to do that because of MS still supporting (manufacturers
with drivers also!) Win 98 & for a lot of stuff you need Win98SE,
while with Win95 you are quite limited these days IMHO ...
(I was using 5y W95osr2.1 & 2y ago switched to W98SE Lite .. quite
happy doin that now!)

>Nice website.

thanks! 🙂

I have a double boot with win95 B (osr.2.1)

testing with uppermentioned OS... But I will upgrade that USB
SUPPLEMENT to OSR2 & try again in the future to be sure & to update my
web site regarding that matter!
