I'll look through fab51 later. This is a lot to take in.
I've been onto the AMD sempron forums and the experts there seem to
think there's no way to lock the PCI/AGP frequencies when increasing
cpu clock from 166MHz with this chipset.
Once you've set the SW1 switch on the mobo off the 100MHz default
setting the bios immediately recognizes the sempron and sets cpu speed
to 166.
The bios is F7 which was the latest when I last looked a month or so
ago.
I don't think using an older bios version is going to help here.
Dave's suggestion seems plausible but I don't feel confident about
that.
I'll add that I've reset the clock to 166 because I wasn't happy with
these frequency variations.
I have some reading to do.
