Overclocking Sent Me To The Future!

I was overclocking an old Celeron 400 MHz processor the other day and was
having great success as I had pushed it to over 7 GHz when all of a sudden,
somewhere around the 7.15 GHz range, the processor starting shaking
terribly. I quickly tried to turn off the computer and unplug the power
supply, but neither helped. The processor seemed possessed and continued its
manic quaking. After mere seconds, my trusty Celeron 400 was bright red and
sparks began flying from the tiny processor. I tried to run away, but the
processor seemed to have a gravitational pull of its own and I could not
escape.

At this point, the bedroom lights started to flicker and I began to lose
conciousness. Just as I was about to pass out, a blinding red beam of light
escaped from my beloved Celeron and began to flood the room with its
incandescence. Suddenly, I awoke on the floor of my room, exausted and
feeling as though I had traveled a far distance. I opened my eyes to find my
newspaper sitting on the edge of my computer desk, just where I always keep
it.

Something was very different about this newspaper though. It was not made of
paper, but of one space age sillicone sheet. The stragest thing about this
newspaper was not the material of which it was made however, it was its
headline... "Rosie ODonnell elected President!". I quickly searched for the
date and it was 2024!!! I rushed to my window and saw hordes of cyborgs
patrolling the streets, all made to look like Rosie ODonnell. A terrible
future awaits us all!

See. That's what you get for not going AMD.

Boys and girls......this is what smoking bad dope and fooling with

Indeed. Higher quality dope would have led to a much better future -- with
cyborgs modeled after Angelina Joli in her roll as Gia.

Tell me, did Intell ever sort the Prescott cooling problem? 🙂

Also, I think this is a bug in Intel's implementation of AMD's STC (Space
Time Continuum) instruction set design. Intel couldn't be reached for
comment, but rumor has it, they were overreaching, and just couldn't pull
off the complex mathematics, an intellectual bandwidth shortcomming similar
to that manifested with the Pentium floating point bug some years ago.

Lol, you don't need to travel to the future to find the answer to that one
Alex. In actual fact, you find the answer by turning the clock back!

The Ghost of Christmas Past appeared in Intel CEO Craig Barratt's dream, and
told him that, if he turned the Prescott's clock backwards, to 2.4GHz, but
put two cores on a single chip, he could reduce power consumption by 30%
while increasing performance by 10%. And lo the "Smithfield" processor was
born . and the star of Keith David rose in the East...

Much prefer her as that chick in Hackers.
(Plus it keeps it kind of on-topic for this group) 🙂

You must have struck some bad buds man because Intel doesn`t have the grunt
