ok so i play a game that is CPU intensive and ppl there say that you can get banned from overclocking software vs BIOS overclocking, but i thought they were the same thing, what is the difference between the two?? i use some overclocking software and i dont see much of a performance boost, i dont get it.

Solution
From my noob knowledge. One should never software over clock as it is a dynamic over clock. Its an overclock applied as the OS boots. It can be unreliable and has potential to cause serious damage if used improperly.

BIOS overclock is a hard fixed over clock. Settings are fixed and very reliable. If your OS doesnt boot you know you have entered incorrect values.
