I have some questions since i am not sure about this, i just bought an i5 4460 but.. for esample if in the future i buy something like the i7 4790k and i got a motherboard that does not allow the overclocking.. if i get the i7 4790k would i get still good performance from that processor without overclocking? is it really worth to overclock? because i need to get a new motherboard and so i know if i will need in future to get a new mobo that allows overclocking, if the overclocking is so profitable and it increases the performance so much.... so? is it any good? I am not into overclocking so much, i only overclock my gpu from time to time.. cause thats much more easy 😀

My honest opinion: It's not worth it overclocking if you have a powerful CPU like and i5 or i7.
Rather spend the extra money on a better graphics solution as that is where you will most likely encounter performance issues. So the H97 board would do you just fine.

Hi there
It all depends on what you are trying to do. With a CPU as powerful as the i5-4460 or the i7-4790 is really is not necessary to overclock if your purpose is gaming. Buying an i5 and spending more $$$ on a better graphics card is the recommended way to go.

Well, i use it for gaming only but i wanna know because i got my i5 4460 and my 8gb ddr3 rams ready, i just need the motherboard so i can put them togheter but i don't know what should i do, should i buy an expensive mobo like the one i posted on the first post (Not actually that expensive, only 110$) and its nice looking too but it does not allow overclock would it be ok for gaming? or should i go for a cheaper mobo because in future when i upgrade the cpu with a K version i need to buy a new mobo for it and in this way im not paying much on the mobo now, so i got two options, buy a nice mobo like the one i posted and not worrying about the overclock thing? (since i do not know how much improves the game, some say it doesn't improve it that much to be worth it..) and in future i can easly upgrade the cpu to another but not worrying about overclock or i could buy a cheap mobo right now since i will need to change it when i upgrade the cpu for an overclock version (If the overclock is really worth in gaming.. ) ... please help me.. 😀

Why not look at this board then: http://www.pcgarage.ro/placi-de-baza/asrock/z97-anniversary-1/ or this one: http://www.pcgarage.ro/placi-de-baza/asrock/z97m-pro4/ if you are wanting 2 PCI-e slots.

Thats the problem, thats what i am asking, is it really worth overclocking? is it really worht getting your processor under load so much? from what i heard when you overclock you take the life of the cpu, its gonna have a shorter life.. is it really worth doing this? how much frames can give you in games? for 5 frames only? if its not worth it, then ill take a locked motherboard that doesn't allow overclocking and in future i take an i5 4690k for esample and ill not overclock it.

Thats what i don't know, is it really worth to overclock for gaming? does it give more than 5-6 fps? or what? 😀

Thanks for your answers untill now !!
