I own an old system built in 2011 consisting of an i5 2500k, Asus p8z68, 8gb ddr3 ram.

The graphics card is newer: GTX 1060 3gb.

The system is showing its age in gaming, and stability problems are getting more frequent from some over-zealous overclocking.

I would like some advice as to the best value upgrade to for a new CPU, Motherboard, RAM for gaming and office work in 2019 that won't break the bank.

Any advice is much appreciated.

400 will be a squeeze. Today's equivalent of the 2500k is the Ryzen 2600/2600X. Being as your system is pretty old, along with a new CPU+mobo + RAM I'd recommend replacing your assumedly 8 year old power supply.

I'm in the UK. My budget for this is around £400 GBP.

Simply looking for a noticeable upgrade in performance. For games that means a stable 60fps at 1080p. I don't think the quad core is quite cutting it anymore, especially for multiplayer titles. The rest is just general office work, no editing or anything extremely demanding.

Thank you

I agree. PSU is old. I can stretch to 500. Ryzen 2600 was first choice. I'm out of date when it comes to AMD value for money.
