Overheating issues, but slowly?

My computer boots up and according to speedfan and my BIOS, my temperatures are at 40 celsius. Then I check minute by minute after casually surfing the web, writing a document, chatting on AIM. After about an hour, my temperatures are 53 celsius.

This is peculiar because the temperatures rise so slowly. What could possibly be causing the issue? I have 4 holes in the back due to open PCI slots, could that be causing an issue?

It would help us answer your question, if you could list your case including fans and their positions, plus system components.

Without knowing any parts of your system, it sounds like bad airflow and thus heat buildup.

IDK the case, no model or anything on it. Got it off a friend.

I have a large fan that moves a LOT of air on the bottom of the case from the front, and a small 80mm fan in the back pulling warm air out. Problem is the top part of the back of my case is close to wood, so I think the air goes down and then re-enters the case through the open PCI slots only to rise again...?

I don't live in a cave lmaoo. I'm going to try taping up the PCI Express slots in the back first, then moving my computer farther away from the back, then having my intake fan lying flat in the case rather than vertical, then a new case finally.

Meh,alot of work >_>;

What you could try is running the case with one side off, if it stays "cool", you will know it is due to heat buildup caused by bad airflow.

Also, unless you have already done so, try tiding up cable clutter using zip ties, and tugging them out of the way as much as possible, to help airflow through the case.

Having only one 80mm as exhaust fan is far from optimal, and yes, if you box in the case, you do risk recirculating air just exhausted from the case.

My temps are at 39 flat with the case open and my intake fan lying on the bottom of the case facing up. I also put a piece of wood in the PCI slot area to cover any hot air coming in.
