Overheating Issues with AMD FX-8320 If Not Overclocked?

This is my first run at building my own computer. I'm looking to build something for some low to mid-level video editing; something, essentially, that I can run Sony Vegas 11 or 12 on and work with HD going forward. I want something that will last and be a platform I can build upon, but am trying to keep it in the $500-$700 range (I know I know....I want best of all worlds, who doesn't?).

I've been doing a lot of research on which processor to use, and I'm currently bouncing between Intel and AMD (namely, the FX-8320 and either the I5-3570 or I5-4570). I hear AMD can tend to run hot, but also, it seems this is mostly when overclocking. I'm not really planning on overclocking, so would I still have an issue?

Just need some help deciding between Intel and AMD, considering I'm trying to save as much money as possible (but don't wanna regret it later).

Here are a few of the builds I've worked up thus far (already have hard drives and opticals, so don't need to buy those):
Build 1 (ATX) AMD
Build 2 (ATX) Intel Haswell
Build 3 (ATX) Intel Ivy-Bridge

(if anyone has a better build they'd suggest with the same elements, I'm all ears too)

Amd is typically a cheaper, more budget way to go but is by no means inferior. As for the temps thats mainly with the stock coolers. Most stock Fx coolers almost dont even do anything. I would say if you get one, or any processor for that matter, go with the Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO. Its a great cooler and will deal with any high temps well. Stock speeds you shouldnt run into issues as long as you get rid of that near trash stock cooler.

he's right i had Hyper 212 Plus and it kept it down in the mid 40s range with moderate load. If you intend on OC then you will need to buy a liquid cooling solution, i went with the NZXT Kraken C60, then OC to 4.5Ghz at 1.5v i get close to 65C at maxed load with Prime95.

Building a budget build will NEVER dissappoint you with AMD. Intel is very much for the consumer with pockets bulging. The Stock i7 cooler is no better than the stock FX cooler in terms of OverHeating, in fact, i've heard of some stories from Intel where the Stock Cooler wasn't even sufficient for Idle loads, forcing users into aftermarket solutions. The nice thing about these FX CPU's though, is they are very much operable at higher temps, you can hit 75C and still run just fine, these CPU's will only start to damage at 85C+ Since Intel will get close to that on its stock cooler playing Crysis 3 your AMD wont suffer nearly as hard.

The factors to consider:
AMD has actual cores with one thread per core reducing stress and heat buildup.
Intel has fake cores, usually half the cores reported, just Double Threaded to mimic real cores. This generates a lot of heat buildup.

Many Intel Fans will insist that forcing a core to do double the work is somehow better overall, in my opinion it is a cheap marketing scam. Many AMD Fans will say that Intel isn't good for anything...
however... all can be considered correct, if you look at it from multiple points of view:
Intel Fans: when over clocking to get the most out of your CPU if you could Double Thread each core you'd double performance.
AMD Fans: when you look at the products price range, the Intel products within the same price range of AMD FX-8320, you pretty much will NOT be able to do much at all.
My Opinion: Intel needs to leave the OverClocking to the consumer, their 8 cores CPU is just a double threaded quad core, and nothing more. This should be something the consumer does on their own, and in my opinion, if they made an actual 8 core 8 thread CPU they would NOT have such hot product, in fact, i think it would run cold on the stock cooler. Take a stock cooled stock clocked i7, devide the Cores windows says in half to get the ACTUAL cores, now divide the temp in half, this where you can base your performance margins on between AMD and Intel. Everything by Intel is basically doubled up performance, like filler added into your Ground Beef (remember Pink slime?)

I laugh so hard when I read about how people OverClocked their Intel chips... in all honesty, it is pre factory overclocked, if it weren't, AMD would stomp Intel, and then Intel would no longer have customers to buy their second hand products. i7? don't make me laugh, that's just a rebranded double threaded Core2Quad.

I currently have an amd 8320 with a stock cooler at the moment. It is true that its terrible, i'd be better off blowing on it to cool it =P. So yes definitely get an aftermarket cooler.
