Overheating Problems i7-4790k

Using h100i max pump and fan speed
Idle temps 32-38
Use prime 95 for half a second and they all max to 100c
Running at 4400Mhz
Is there a problem with my h100i?

Idle temps are completely fine. How long do is the h100i installed on your CPU? Did you use another cooler before you installed it?

Its been one year almost to the day and its the first and only one on this cpu

If so the first thing I would check is the thermal compound and maybe reapply it.

It could also be that the pump has failed. Are you using the Corsair Link software to monitor the pump speed?

Yes and it says the pump is running fine

I just replaced the thermal paste and noticed a 9-degree drop at idle I was break it in soon and update. I remember adding more than enough about a year ago but The thermal paste was only covering about 75% of the cpu

Update: Prime95 still makes it hit 100c almost instantly

Do the fans and your pump RPM's increase when your temps rise like that?

Also are you controlling your voltage in the BIOS with Auto, Adaptive, Offset, or Manual?

When running AVX loads (like Prime 95 Small FFT's), the first three options above will seriously overvolt your CPU. It is recommended while stress testing AVX intensive software to use Manual which will keep your Vcore at a static voltage. Adaptive and Offset can raise your Vcore by as much as 10mV (.01V) from the normal load Vcore when placed under an AVX load.

Adaptive, Offset, and Auto (which defaults to one of the first two), is fine for day to day use. It's just while using Prime 95 that you should consider Manual.

Do NOT use any Prime95 versions later than 26.6. Here's why:

Core i 2nd, 3rd and 4th Generation CPU's have AVX (Advanced Vector Extension) instruction sets. Recent versions of Prime95 run AVX code on the Floating Point Unit (FPU) math coprocessor, which produces unrealistically high temperatures. The FPU test in the software utility AIDA64 shows the same results.

Prime95 v26.6 produces temperatures on 3rd and 4th Generation processors more consistent with 2nd Generation, which also have AVX instructions, but do not suffer from thermal extremes due to having a soldered Integrated Heat Spreader and a 35% larger Die.

Please run only Small FFT’s for 10 minutes.

Your Core temperatures will test 10 to 20C lower.

The idle temp is fine, the benchmark temp is very high.
