Overheating?

I have a P4 3Gig PC. My CPU temp usually runs around 90-98F all the time. The problem is, when I play a game (such as Doom3) or encode video, the temps jump to anywhere from 130-145F. Is this OK? Is this normal? Should I get a better fan/HS combo? Thanks!

sounds normal to me.

if it's the the new core Intel, they are natorious for running really hot. idle temps are around 50c and running temps around 70c!!!!!

but still runs fine

Converting to Celcius (Its easier to remember good CPU temps in C for some reason...) that's 46 idle and 62 load. For a P4E Prescott, that's just fine.

If your chip has 1 meg line 2 cache,(prescott core) your temps are about normal. If you have 512k cache(P4c) you are quite warm.
