Overloaded hard drive

Hello,
I think I put too much data on my external hard drive. I expected a warning (not enough space) All of a sudden it's not recognized (nor any of the data) on my computer. Have I lost all my data or is there a way to retrieve it, apologize, get it off and get over it?

If you approach the max of your storage you WILL recieve warning messages.

i would say the fact your hdd has stopped working and your drive was full are not related.

sounds like the drive has died (not linked to how full it was). Try plugging it into another computer, try another USB cable. try removing the HDD from its external enclosure and fit it inside your computer.
