Overlord Tempest X270OC vs Acer XG270HU

I currently have an Overlord Tempest X270OC, which is a QHD IPS panel that runs at 120Hz, 6ms response, with no freesync. I love this monitor, the IPS panel makes colors look amazing and gaming at 120Hz feels so smooth. I've seen the Acer XG270HU which is a QHD TN panel that runs at 144Hz, 1ms response, with freesync.

I have the opportunity to replace my Overlord Tempest with the Acer XG270. My questions is which one is better and should I switch to the Acer? To me, I don't think I'll notice a difference between the refresh rates and response time of the monitors. So it comes down to the IPS panel vs the TN panel with freesync. But I don't know if it's worth the trade.

I do know the TN panels have bad viewing angles but I usually sit right in front of the screen so no, the angles don't matter. I'm running an r9 290. I haven't had any problems with too high or low fps, but it's been a while since I've run tests so I don't want to give any numbers out without knowing for sure what they are.

Just a note, I am planning on sticking with AMD cards in the future. If crossfire and freesync ever get fixed I'll probably get another 290. Or if I wait long enough AMD will just release their 300 series and I'll look into getting one of those.

Are you deciding whether to get a gpu or display, or is money for both not an issue? Is the 300 series goes above the refresh rate you can use VSR to render at 4k.

I'm deciding between displays. The Overlord Tempest XC270OC or the Acer XG270HU. I basically want to know if it's worth trading an IPS panel for a TN panel with freesync. Freesync only works with AMD cards so I was only stating I'm planning on sticking with AMD cards in the future.

I'm confused, haha. I think those kind of reviews are nice but the review you provided had neither of the monitors I'm talking about. Nor do I want to drop $1000 on a monitor whose main pull is G-Sync which I cannot support with my R9 290.

I have the chance to replace my Tempest Overlord monitor with the new Acer XG270, I'm basically getting the Acer monitor free if I trade in my Tempest Overlord. So I'm comparing these two specific monitors. Both monitors are almost similar except for the Tempest Overlord is an IPS panel without Freesync and the Acer monitor is a TN panel with Freesync. I'm asking is it worth switching to the Acer?
