We've been doing MacBeth for a while now at school, before we did R&J, is it just me or is he incredibly overrated as an author? Im sick of the teacher forcing us to nitpick at EVERY ******* WORD. Its like its written in the hand of god and everything has to have to fricking hidden reason for this and that. There is always some apparent theme which is incredibly obvious as are the reasons for some very discussed topics that in reality are incredibly simple. His writing is incredibly boring and seems generic with characters often seeming to behave in the same same and think the same while women are also in the same positions always usually in a needy or negative light. Couple that with a ton of ridiculouly blatant penis metaphors and you have a bunch of average rubbish that doesnt shed any light on the english language or writing, while having boring plots that everyone knows the end to. I simply do not understand why he is so revered and all schools force him upon us when we even dont like to read him. I honestly have NEVER read a book that i liked in school, always one i picked of else where. Schools should see more of TRUE literature like "Catcher in the Rye" and "Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy". Hell i found even Tolstoy a great author. Shakespeare represents all that is wrong with new teenage action-adventures, : boring, bad diaogue, bad characters, bad plotlines, forced writing and a stupid sense of themes.

His books and 50 shades of gray are neck and neck... when it comes to books that make you want to hang yourself.

This is why I used to hate English Literature class, i would just end up falling a sleep with my head on the table and book in my lap (which would appear as if I'm reading)
