Thanks Hellfire13,
I had actually defeated my touchpad previously but took my laptop somewhere and all of a sudden realized I had neither the touchpad or the mouse (actually a trackball). I probably could have rebooted and fixed it in the BOIS.
So I set the laptop up to simply turn off the touch pad when I plugged in the USB trackball but the silly touchpad turned itself back on. It's so touchy it does terrible things when I'm typing, like jumping back a page or closing up spaces between words. I'd forgotten how to re-do it. I could also dial back the sensitivity. I'm a retired electronics guy, but some of this stuff evades me.
My Best,
Ron
