Playing Soldier 76 feels a bit like playing the basic soldier of a lot of other first person shooter games, he is probably one of the easiest heroes to use and doing the basic tutorial of how to play the game even showcases Soldier 76 and his abilities. He's got some tricks that still set him apart form the normal shoot em up game though.
Heavy Pulse Rifle
This is pretty standard, a rifle that fires accurately in full auto. It's pretty good at some longer ranges than a few other offensive characters, so Soldier 76 can be better at a longer range than some.
Helix Rockets
This is the alternate fire for the pulse rifle, it will fire a couple of mini rockets out in a straight line. These rockets will do splash damage, so if you can use them on a group of enemies it will have the best effect. These rockets do have a long cool down time before you can use them again though, so you'll have to use them wisely.
Sprint
Soldier 76 can use this ability to increase his movement speed for a while, and it has a very short cool down time so he can use it pretty often. This has a lot of uses, like getting behind the enemy team, moving from cover to cover, or just getting back to the objective quickly after respawning.
Biotic Shield
This ability brings a bit of support into the fight with Soldier 76's arsenal. He can drop this down at any time to provide an area of effect heal over time field to any of his team mates who step into it. This can be useful if you are using his sprint to get behind enemy lines, so you can get to cover if you are in trouble and drop this to heal yourself back up before you go back in, no health packs required.
Ultimate - Tactical Visor
This ability is like a legal way of getting aim bot for a limited amount of time. While this ability is active any enemy that falls within your line of sight will automatically be aimed at, so just unload your weapon in the enemies general vicinity and watch them all drop like flies. Keep in mind that a Reinhardt barrier with the enemy team hiding behind it will pretty much completely negate this ultimate though, as it doesn't increase your damage dealt, just your aim.
