Hi,

So i've been having an issue with Overwatch crashing on me mid game. No indication it is going to happen just a sudden crash that gives the following message;

"your rendering device has been lost"

Now this obviously points to my GPU, but i'm not having issues with any other games, my drivers are up to date and all my windows and game files have been checked and no errors can be found.

This issue only showed up after the latest windows 10 feature update which caused me to get locked out of my account for a brief period of time. Not sure if this is linked or just coincidence.

Blizzard support told me a few things to try and when i told them none of it helped but my CPU temps were high (80 degrees C for a I7 7700K) they basically told me my PC was going to explode.

Not very helpful. I know the temps are a little high but from what i can see most people get similar temps under load on air cooled. I'm not massively concerned with my CPU at the moment as i'll be converting to liquid cooled as soon as i can afford it.

Does anyone have any idea whats going on? or how to fix it.

FYI my specs are as below:

I7 7700K - Stock air cooled
Corsair Hx1000i PSU
MSI z270 X power Gaming Titanium
AMD Sapphire R9 290 GPU - Stock waiting on hands on reviews for Vega before upgrading.
32GB DDR4 Ram - Ram clocked at 3000Mhz Running at 2933MHz - Overclocked due to CPU limiting to 2400MHz.

To me it seems like there's an issue between overwatch and my GPU but no other game is having issues and I don't know how to fix the issue with overwatch. Sometimes i can play for 5 hours and not crash but other times it crashes in the 2nd match.

Try reseating the video card. Pull it out of the slot and put it back in. Could be build up of dust/corrosion due to long time installed. Also use some compress air on the card and slot to remove dusk.

The temps are high on your CPU but reasonable for a high overclock. Overclock tho could be cause so set it to stock and play if not already.

Check your RAM for issues using memtest64.
