overzealous nTune overclock bug?

I recently installed nTune 5.05.18 to overclock my 6600 and i found that the result a little optimistic.

The factory setting for my 6600 are:-
Core Buss 300mhz
Memory Buss 500mhz

The passed nTune suggested settings were:-
Core Buss 473mhz
Memory Buss 557mhz

Surely this sort of gain is incorrect and could damage my GPU?

My system spec is:-

Windows XP Home Edition 5.01.2600 Service Pack 2
AMD Athlon 2600+ @ 1916 MHz
1024MB DDR PC3200
GeForce 6600 with ithe 93.71 drivers.
Asus A7N8X2.0
nVidia nForce2 Ultra 400
DirectX Version 9.0c

Any ideas?

Hey there...Sorry about the long wait for the reply..I haven't had time to test until last night.
I installed RivaTuner 2.0 and did a trmp test.
Using Aquamark the core temp rose to 85 c.
I only have a stock cooler...what is the safe max temp for my chip?

don't worry, the 6600 is a good chip and can take a lot of OC, enjoy the new card
