Recently I made a backup of my important documents and reinstalled Windows 7 and then moved them to the new install. Well there seems to be a problem with permissions and I can't access any files. I did a bit of digging and learned about the "Take Ownership" registry file AND the command line prompt of takeown. Well those both failed, but let me clarify how they failed. They all say successfully given ownership to my user profile, and I can even check and see that the folder indeed does say me as the owner. The problem is that the individual files (and sometimes not even all of them- like music is fine) still don't allow me to access them. For example this file http://imgur.com/hkQrcLe . This is just one of many that actually state I am the owner for it but the name is missing from the Users/Groups and instead has that crazy string of numbers.
Now if I go in there and manually add my account (I delete the string too) then it lets me have it. Is there any easy way to get my name added to all these files? I can't go through all these files looking to see which ones are allowing me access and which ones aren't.
Couple of notes: I did run an elevated command prompt for takeown and that was how I got the folder control but it doesn't seem to pass on the control permissions to the individual files. It also seems to be heavily related to images but other game config files and such are not working either.
