Hello, I just finished reading all the posts in this group since
sept03 (Forte APN). I would like to congratulate those who reply here
for their courtesy and class. It reminds me of the days before the
dreaded www came along.
System info: 2.4G P4, 1024MB ram, Asus V9180 vcard, 22" pro
graphics crt, Sidewinder FF2, 2 physical hard drives. One with 98 (I
still like Doom) and the other with XP home edition (yes, you can run
98 with 1024MB of memory, you have to enter bogus cache settings in
the system.ini file).
When I built this system I installed CFS European Series that my
old system couldn't handle. My favorite plane is the P-51D. CFS awoke
in me an old dream to learn to fly so I bought FS2002 std. Through
posts here I learned planes can be imported into FS2002.
(1) How do I get my mustang into FS2002 from CFS? Both programs are
installed on each of my drives, 98 and XP. FS2002 documentation points
me to a web site that no longer exists.
(2) Could someone advise me how best to reach the goal of really
learning to fly beginning with FS2002?
(3) Are there other established materials/software that would be
advantageous to acquire? I want to avoid "un-learning" bad concepts
when I take instruction from a licensed flight instructor. However, I
do want to be prepared as possible when that day comes.
Thanks in advance for your patience and expertise. I'm sure I'll
have more questions from time to time.
L8tr.

All good questions Ralph. The best way to get started
with FS2002 is to "jump in with both feet" and start thru
the Flying Lessons. When the day comes that you begin
real-time flight instruction, mention to your CFI that you
have used Flight Simulator, and he/she will no doubt very
quickly get you out of any bad habits you might have
developed. Don't worry about that aspect.
You probably won't be able to move your CFS P-51 into the
new FS2002 or FS2004, but there are freebies downloads of
this airplane that are excellent add-ons for either.

Ralph, I don't recall if you can import from CFS 1 into FS 2002. I know you
can import from CFS 2 into FS 2002. See:
