I've got a P3 450, but can I overclock it and how?

I have seen the Durons and Athlons are easy to o/c but I,ve read nothing about Intel. My mobo is a Commate P2/370A-Z

NE help is greatly appreciated.

greetings. i am in the process of upgrading a system that is based on a P3-450 overclocked @ 558. I was using an ABIT BX-6 (I think) mobo. since the multiplier is chip-set, the only thing you can really do is what i did, move the FSB forward (the bios supports this). I upped it to 124MHz to get the 558. One bit further (581) and it would not boot. Regular cooling. My guess is that it would go further if I were using better RAM... I am using PC-100. I just got a stick of 133, so I may try that in there, just for grins, before I put together the Athlon.

you can bump the bus speed to 112mhz, 115,120 or higher...
112x4.5=602mhz... i think that's pretty much all you can do.
pentium 3's are locked so play around with the jumpers...

If you can't beat 'em kill 'em
