We only see an increase of 4-9% in scores on the 1066MHz bus compared to the 800MHz bus and considering the fact that the CPU is running about 320MHz higher (or 9% faster), the scores are definitely not impressive.

BTW look at the page numbers on that site.

Is it me or pc mark seem to always put intel in front. Could it be more mhz dependent than ipc dependent?

In any case, it is now abundantly clear that there is no way that the increased FSB will single-handedly make the difference Intel needs to fight off AMD.

And while I am quite curious to see what DDR2-667 and DDR2-800 can offer, I think that that too will not level the playing field in terms of raw performance. The P4 architecture has already committed suicide. They might even keep it on life support for Smithfield, but it's pretty clear that even then, netburst will have to be buried and replaced by something superior.

The sooner, the better. We want better processors than that and AMD has already raised the performance (and even feature) bar.
Edited by Mephistopheles on 10/26/04 11:00 PM.

Splendid
The scotty seems to be scaling okay. No, it wont allow Intel to gain the gaming crown, but it will put them back in the driver's seat for multimedia.
I wish they had included a P4c at that clock, but Intel is not ready to review prescott.
I just hope they can get product out the door in quantity. If not, prices will rise more.
